Exness
Daily loss limit and kill switch for Exness
Exness gives you stop-losses for each trade, but nothing that stops the trading day. Connect an Exness API key, set your daily loss limit once, and our engine enforces it: orders cancelled, positions closed, account locked until your next daily reset.
What happens when you breach your limit on Exness
Three steps, in this order, every time. Your open orders are cancelled. Every open position is market-closed — then verified, and retried if the exchange says otherwise, because assuming an instruction landed is how a guard quietly fails. Then the account is locked for a cooldown.
The lock is written to the database before any closing starts, so a crash mid-close cannot leave you unlocked. It survives an engine restart and is lifted by the clock alone, never by an error. Anything you open during that window is closed on sight and does not count as a trade.
We cannot stop an order from reaching Exness. No exchange hands a third party that switch, and anyone who says otherwise is selling something. What we do is close the position immediately after it opens and then confirm you are flat.
Which Exness accounts work: Exness platform, not MT4 or MT5
TradeGuardX works with accounts on the Exness platform itself, the Exness Terminal and web terminal. Exness only issues API keys for those accounts; on the key form, MT4 and MT5 accounts show greyed out, and a key cannot be made for them.
So if you trade on MT5 today, the kill switch cannot see those trades. The way in is an Exness-platform account: open one in your Personal Area, trade it from the Exness Terminal or the Exness app, and connect that.
Exness is also still opening its API country by country, and it asks for a fully verified account. If you do not see API management in your Personal Area, it is not available to you yet, and there is no workaround on our side.
What is different about Exness
Exness has no single "close everything" call, so the kill switch works through your account one position and one pending order at a time, and confirms each close before it moves on. A rule firing on a busy account takes a few extra seconds; it does not skip anything.
Forex and CFD markets close. If a rule fires while an instrument's market is shut, that close is held and retried the moment the market reopens, and the account stays locked in the meantime. Crypto venues never close, so this is the one place it matters.
Your limits are in your Exness account's own currency, the figure your Exness statement shows. The daily reset happens early in the morning in your own timezone, so a session never straddles two days.
Which Exness rules can TradeGuardX enforce?
All seven, with the same behaviour as on every other venue. It is one engine behind all of them, so a daily loss limit means the same thing on Exness as it does on a crypto exchange.
Daily Loss Protection
Cancels every open order, market-closes every position, and locks the account until your next daily reset.
Measures trading result, so a deposit does not move it.
Max Trades Per Day
Locks the account for the rest of the day once you hit your trade count.
Trades blocked by a lock are free — they do not count toward the limit.
Daily Profit Target
Locks the day once you have BOOKED your target and are flat, so the win survives the afternoon.
It never force-closes an open winner.
Close After N Losses
Pauses trading after a losing streak. Two tiers, each firing once per streak: a soft lock at your chosen count (3 losses → 3h by default) and a hard lock if it continues (5 → 12h).
A win resets the streak before either tier.
Risk Per Trade
Closes the single position whose stop-loss implies more risk than your limit, and leaves the rest of the account alone.
It does not cancel your other orders and does not lock the account.
Stop-Loss Protection
Tells you a position is sitting open with no stop attached.
It never closes it. Force-closing you for not having set a stop yet would be worse than the problem.
Max Drawdown Lock
Notifies when the account is down past your threshold from its starting balance.
Alert only today, despite the name — it does not close or lock. Do not rely on it as a floor.
How do I connect my Exness account?
One key on Exness, one paste into TradeGuardX. On Exness you open API management, tick Trading with Full access, set the expiry to Never and add our IP. Then you paste the API Key, the Secret Key and the account number. About five minutes, on a phone or a computer.
Read the Exness key setup guideCan TradeGuardX withdraw my funds?
No, and you should refuse any risk tool that asks. Your funds never leave your own exchange wallet — we never hold them.
We only ask for Trading with Full access, which lets us close a position and cancel an order and nothing else. Exness's key form also lists Partnership and Transfers; both stay switched off, and a Trading key cannot withdraw or move money.
The key is also pinned to a single IP address (13.205.214.83), so it only works from our engine and nowhere else. Your secret is encrypted with KMS before storage and is never shown again, not even to you.
Exness questions
Does Exness have a daily loss limit?
Not an account-wide one. Exness gives you stop-loss and take-profit on each position, and those protect one trade at a time. Nothing stops you opening the next trade after a bad run. TradeGuardX adds that: a daily loss limit across the whole account that closes positions and locks trading when it is hit.
Does TradeGuardX work with Exness MT4 or MT5?
No. Exness only issues API keys for accounts on the Exness platform (Exness Terminal and web terminal); MT4 and MT5 accounts cannot have a key, so we cannot see or close their trades. If you want the kill switch, trade from an Exness-platform account and connect that.
Why can't I find API management in my Exness Personal Area?
Exness has not opened its API in every country yet, and it asks for a fully verified account first. If API management is missing from the side menu, it is not available on your account today. That is Exness's rollout, not a setting we can change.
What happens if my loss limit is hit when the forex market is closed?
The account locks straight away, and any close the market refuses is held and retried as soon as that market reopens. Positions in instruments that are still open are closed immediately. Nothing waits on you to come back.
Which permission does the Exness API key need?
Trading, set to Full access. Read-only can never close a position, so the kill switch would do nothing; we check for it and refuse a read-only key when you connect. Set Expiry to Never, because a key that expires switches your protection off, and add our IP (13.205.214.83) to Allowed IPs, because Exness refuses calls from any other address.
Does the kill switch still work if I trade from the Exness app?
Yes. We hold a live connection to the account itself from our servers, so it makes no difference whether a trade came from the Exness app, the web terminal or anywhere else. If it reaches your account, we see it and act if it breaks a rule.
Can I lock my own Exness account before a bad session starts?
Yes. Pick three, six or twelve hours and confirm, and the account is locked for that long. There is no cancel button. Anything you open during the lock is closed as soon as it appears.
